Last night, Tony and I the pleasure to attend Opening Night at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina to see LEND ME A TENOR which runs February 7-26, 2012. My Mom, visiting from Long Island, my Brother Jack and his Wife, Joy, from Callawassie Island joined us too. We enjoyed a fabulous meal across the street at our Clients Restaurant, Pazzo. (Pazzo in Italian means crazy; describes too many moments in my life). Check out the picture below of the canoli my Brother had for dessert.
The Arts Center held Realtor’s Night last night with a wonderful reception prior to the show. Hilton Head’s Realtors had time to wind down and enjoy each others company in a social setting. Then it was off to the show which began promptly at 8 pm. Lend Me a Tenor is a funny Tony Award Winning show that kept us all laughing….
It’s 1934, and the womanizing Italian tenor Tito Merelli, known to his adoring fans as “Il Stupendo,” is set to sing the lead in “Otello” as part of a gala fundraiser for the Cleveland Opera. But when his justifiably jealous wife leaves him after mistaking an autograph-seeker in his closet for a secret lover, the distraught leading man passes out after taking one too many anxiety pills.
Determined that the show will go on, the company’s general manager recruits his assistant to impersonate Merelli. Dressed as Otello, he passes for the tenor until the real opera star shows up on stage in the identical costume. That leads to a chain-reaction of mistaken identity, romantic mishaps, double entendres and nonstop revolving doors.
I highly recommend the show as well as most definitely recommend Pazzo for dinner….Call 843-842-9463 for reservations for dinner….you will not be disappointed.
